ADA Procedure for Requesting Communication Assistance

In an effort to accommodate individuals needing communication assistance i.e. oral interpreting, sign language, Braille or transcription services for city services, programs, meetings, etc., a request must be made 48 hours in advance of the need for such service(s). ADA Contact Procedures

The City of Omaha, Nebraska has prepared the following procedures for individual’s contacting the City for ADA assistance. Individuals needing ADA assistance can contact the Mayor’s Hotline at (402) 444-5555 or email the ADA Coordinator at This email address is being protected from spambots. The Mayor’s office will forward the concern to the City of Omaha’s Human Rights and Relations Department (OHRRD) Intake Services. ADA concerns are then handled through OHRRD research or complaint process, or referred to the appropriate resource for assistance; such as contacting the Mayor's Commission for Citizens with Disabilities (MCCD) Board for guidance, or by contacting individual interpreters for assistance. Timeline for addressing concerns is within a 48-hour period.

ADA Training Procedures

The City of Omaha, Nebraska has prepared the following procedures for employee ADA training. Employee training will be handled through contracting with ADA specialists for specific training; i.e. TTY training through Nebraska Relay Services or through the purchase of videos, DVD’s, or power point presentations. Departments will be notified through email notification to directors/directors secretaries of necessary training requirements and training schedules. Those employees participating in ADA training will be required to sign an attendance roster.
