ec·u·men·i·cal
/ˌekyəˈmenək(ə)l/
adjective
1. representing a number of different Christian Churches.
                - Synonyms - nondenominational, nonsectarian, universal, all-embracing, all-inclusive.
2. promoting or relating to unity among the world's Christian Churches.
3. of, relating to, or representing a whole body of churches

The term "ecumenism" refers to the efforts by Christians of different Church traditions to develop closer relationships and better understandings. The term is also often used to refer to efforts towards the visible and organic unity of different Christian denominations in some form.

The adjective "ecumenical" can also be applied to any interdenominational initiative that encourages greater cooperation among Christians and their churches, whether or not the specific aim of that effort is full, visible unity. It can also be applied in the same way to other religions or refer to the unity between religions or between people in general - in this sense it means non-sectarian, non-denominational.

May we come together and honor the memory of Will Brown as a faith community.

A reconciliation paradigm is at the heart of faith. The reality of racial division is one of lament. May we seek healing. Join us for an ecumenical race and reconciliation worship service, followed by a time to enjoy fellowship afterwards.

May this 6:00-8:00 pm time of service be the beginning of the end of the most segregated hour of the week.
